Haere mai e te whānau

Holy Hell, guys….
What to say?
These are some strange and upsetting times we’re living in. I’m sure you’re all feeling the same bewildering mix of grief and anger and fear and boredom (and all the emotions in between) as I am.
I’ve been doing a bit of thinking, and I’ve decided I need a creative outlet to pour my feelings into, for however long this period of our lives lasts for. So I’ve set up this newsletter. I don’t know exactly yet what it might become, but I’m excited to find out.
What would make this project a million times more special is if I could share in it with friends. I adore your unique voices and perspectives and would love for you to join me.
Helpfully, Substack (the platform this runs on) now has the functionality to allow multiple authors with publishing rights on one newsletter. So you’d be able to log in to the interface and write and publish your post yourself, which is pretty damn cool.
If you’re interested about the prospect of joining in but don’t know what you’d write about - write about the things are helping get you through through. Write about the things that make you sad. Write about whatever the hell you like. You could publish poetry, comics, fanfiction, recipes, reviews of the different plants in your garden. I’ll be writing dumb pop culture listicles because that’s what makes me happy.
If you’re keen to be involved in this project (and I hope you are!) please get in touch. I think we could make something super amazing, or just, you know, distracting, which I think is enough.
Sending you and your bubble all my love,
Lily x
P.S. I’ve been dancing in my chair to this all night. It’s so much fun and kind of a distraction anthem. Ignore the line about not staying at home and enjoy!
